Welcome Back from ENSPire!

Welcome back to UMD! We hope your first few days are going well.

The Executive Board had their first meeting today and we already have some awesome plans in the works! Keep reading to learn about upcoming opportunities to renew your involvement with the club.

We have a few important dates to put in your calendars. Sign-ups will be going out in the upcoming weeks, but now is a good time to make space in your busy schedules for these events:

- First Look Fair
Wed. September 13th and Thurs. September 14th from 10 am to 3 pm: We will need volunteers for hour-long shifts to staff our table and run a few free raffles we will be conducting.

- First General Body Meeting
Our first GBM will be held on September 20th from 7:00 PM - 7:30 PM in JMZ 0208. We'll be announcing future events, talking about the new schedule for GBMs, and taking surveys to better the future of ENSPire! Mark this in your calendars!

- UMD Arboretum Event
ENSPire is excited to continue our partnership with the UMD Arboretum! We've been asked to volunteer on Saturday, September 23rd from 10 am ~ 12 pm (we will be finished before the football game). Sign-ups and more details coming soon!

- PG County Animal Shelter
We have set dates to volunteer at one of our favorite places! On October 15, November 12, and December 10, we will volunteer from 12 pm to 2 pm walking dogs for the shelter. Sign-ups will go out closer to the event (note: these trips are limited to 15 people so be sure to sign up fast!)

Finally, we want to announce our exec board leadership positions and introduce you to your class representatives:

President - Logan Kline is currently a junior representative and will continue in her role as president of ENSPire. Her concentration is marine and coastal management and she is considering a double major in GIS and a minor in meteorology. Her favorite hobbies are bird-watching, herpetology, and teaching her rats not to bite her fingers.

Treasurer - Willem Klajbor is serving as a senior representative and will continue in his role as treasurer. His concentration is marine and coastal management and he is an economics double major with a GIS minor. A self-proclaimed coffee connoisseur with maple syrup running in his blood, Willem as been sorely disappointed by the depiction of his beloved ring-tailed lemurs and their depiction in the "Madagascar" animated movie series.

Secretary - Stacy Polyakova will be returning as a sophomore representative and is taking on the role of secretary. Her concentration is in policy and politics and she is pursuing a minor in rhetoric. Stacy's favorite animal is the cuttlefish and she is a rock climber extraordinaire.

Public Relations Officer - Ricky Dubbin is our other senior representative and will be taking on the PR officer position. He is one of the rare environmental geoscience and restoration concentrations. As a 5'6'' powerhouse of environmental sustainability, Ricky's favorite animal is the sea otter: Latin name Enhydris lutris.

Junior Representative Kate Hess is returning for her third year in ENSPire. She has a concentration in biodiversity and is a GIS double major with a professional writing minor. This summer, she studied abroad in Tanzania and is currently doing research on how cicadas are affected by climate change. She loves all things artificially birthday cake flavored.

Sophomore Representative Caitlin Kim has a concentration in global environmental change with a double major in economics. She loves to make friends with all of the dogs she sees on campus, although her favorite animal is a horse, and she's so excited to start this year with everybody!

Thanks for reading this super long email and we can't wait to see you soon!
