Free Tutoring! Academic Success and Tutorial Services (ASTS) ASTS tutoring is free and available to all UMD undergraduates in need of academic support in some of the university's most challenging courses. Peer tutoring is provided in one-on-one and small-group settings. Below you will find the website where students can create appointments with one of our tutors. Appointments are available from 9AM to 9PM and the tutor will contact the student directly after an appointment has been made to agree on a meeting place. Meet and Greet Environmental Photographer Environmental photographer Mark Edwards' exhibition is coming to UMD! The Whole Earth Exhibition will be installed in the Edward St. John building in March and then on display on Hornbake Plaza from April through May. To promote the preservation, awareness, and appreciation of our environment, the Friends of Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge offer scholarships to students who are pursuing careers in fish and wildlife management, environmental education and science, and related fields. Three annual scholarships, one each of $3,000, $2,000, and $1,000 may be awarded to qualified applicants to be paid directly to their academic institution. Directorate Resource Assistant Fellows Program U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service partners with the Student Conservation Association for the FWS Directorate Resource Assistant Fellows Program (DFP). This program provides students with an 11-week, full-time opportunity that supports FWS conservation priorities. This year's opportunities include 43 Biological/Fisheries based projects, 12 Outreach/Human Dimensions related projects, and more. Undergraduate rising seniors and seniors who will not yet have completed their degree requirements are eligible to apply for all 55 projects. On-Campus Screening "The Age of Consequences" The Global Sustainability Initiative together with the Office of Sustainability is pleased to announce an upcoming screening of "The Age of Consequences,” a documentary investigating climate change's growing threats to security on a national and international scale, including increasing resource scarcity, infrastructure risks, conflict and increasing refugee populations. Interactive on-campus discussion Dr. John Holdren - UMD Global Sustainability Initiative   On Tuesday, February 13, 2018 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm in the Prince George's Room of the Stamp Student Union, Dr. John Holdren and the University of Maryland Global Sustainability Initiative will be having an interactive discussion that looks ahead to the future of US science and technology policy.   Dr. John Holdren is currently the Teresa and John Heinz Professor of Environmental Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and has served as assistant to the president for science and technology and director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy during the Obama Administration.   The Global Sustainability Initiative is a cross-disciplinary, campus wide project focused on near-term steps toward long-term sustainability goals.
