Chesapeake Conservation Corps - apply by 4/15

Chesapeake Conservation Corps Seeks Corps Members for 2016-2017 Class!

The Chesapeake Bay Trust is proud to announce solicitations for Corps Members for the 2016-17 Chesapeake Conservation Corps, a program that provides hands-on environmental, leadership and green job training opportunities for young adults through environmental, community engagement and energy conservation projects. This initiative, supported by the Trust, Constellation Energy, the National Park Service and the state of Maryland, places young adults with nonprofit or government agencies to work fulltime in the environmental field for a one-year term of service.
The Corps Program will 1) enable stipend Corps members to work with host organizations and communities throughout Maryland to implement on-the-ground restoration, community engagement and energy conservation projects, and 2) to provide leadership and training opportunities for young adults pursuing environmental and conservation careers including conferences, trainings, grant writing, project management and other opportunities. Corps members will work fulltime on projects in the realms of environmental restoration, community engagement, energy conservation, sustainable agriculture, forestry and environmental education that will promote and sustain the Bay and its surrounding environment as well as provide young adults with the opportunities to gain career skills and become more engaged through meaningful community service.
The Chesapeake Bay Trust anticipates placing 30-35 Corps Members at Host Organizations throughout the Bay region, with service to begin August 23, 2016. Individuals will be between the ages of 18 and 25 years at the time of enrollment. Corps Members will receive stipends of $16,000 per year administered by the Trust.

Deadline: The deadline for Corps Members for this program is April 15, 2016 at 5:00 pm.
