Seeking 1-2 interns

AEC is seeking 1-2 interns to provide support for a company
project. AEC provides environmental consulting services to telecommunications
providers, and one of the services requested is providing biological monitoring
and evaluations of cell tower sites with bird nests. We would be looking
for person(s) with an interest in or experience with birds. Most monitoring is on
osprey nests, and the majority of the work is in the greater Baltimore/Washington
DC metro area.
Tasks would include:
- Monitoring cell tower/osprey nest locations for periods of time up to two hours to determine the nesting status (i.e. nest building, eggs, nestlings, fledged)
- Overseeing work on a cell tower to ensure formerly nesting birds are not adversely effected by the presence of the workers (may be all day/long days)
- Writing reports documenting observations
This will be an hourly, paid internship and travel costs (during
work) will also be reimbursed. Looking for individuals interested in the
interactions between wildlife and commercial enterprises. The person will
have the opportunity to potentially affect the way an industry interacts with
wildlife.
