Job Description --  USGBC seeks a self-motivated, creative and flexible social media intern to join a fast-paced and dynamic marketing and communications team. The ideal candidate will assist in the development of content for social platforms, study data visualization trends, and assist in social media strategic development. This person will work closely with the social media specialist and other select members of the marketing and communications team to ensure that social media content is produced in a professional, timely and efficient manner.

Role and Responsibilities -- The social media intern will directly support the social media specialist with content development initiatives of USGBC's marketing and communications teams, as well as inter-organizational requests. Responsibilities include:
  • Assist in messaging and content creation for all USGBC social media channels.
  • Strategize & contribute to USGBC social media campaigns, including creation of content and promotions.
  • Assist in monitoring industry trends and develop new ways to engage USGBC community via social media channels.
  • Monitor social media discussions relevant to USGBC, LEED, and green building; report on trends.
  • Analyze USGBC performance using Track Maven tool.

Education & training requirements/preferences -- Current enrollment in undergraduate or graduate program of study required.  Major or specialization in writing, journalism, or marketing strategy; or relevant experience preferred

Experience requirements --  Experience in social media networks best practices: Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, Instagram, Pinterest.  Other required skills & qualifications:  Strong organizational and project management skills. Ability to multi-task and problem solve diverse issues.  Team player with outstanding interpersonal skills.  Ability to work well under pressure and respond to tight deadlines.  Commitment to USGBC mission. Knowledge of SEO a plus
