Welcome message from ENSPire
Hello and welcome back to campus! We hope your summer was full of meaningful environmental experiences, internships, and jobs!
The Environmental Science and Policy Student Association, also known as ENSPire, is getting ready to kick off its second full semester in existence at UMD. For those of you who have not heard of us, we are a group dedicated toward uniting the fragmented ENSP major through academia, service, nature, and friendship. Keep reading to find out more about our history and first general body/interest meeting.
ENSPire is run by an Executive Board that consists of eight members, two from each class level, with four holding various leadership titles. These members serve as a liaison between faculty members across campus and members of the club and major. The current Executive Board members are as follows:

  • President - Logan Kline, sophomore representative
  • Treasurer - Willem Klajbor, junior representative
  • Secretary - Salsabil Chebli, senior representative
  • Public Relations - Kate Hess, sophomore representative
  • Exec Board Member - Ryan Block, senior representative
  • Exec Board Member - Hope Loiselle, junior representative
We will also be recruiting ENSP freshmen to take on the roles of freshmen representatives! Look out for that e-mail soon.
In the past, we have hosted events such as career panels, social outings, fundraisers, and a successful ENSP faculty q&a that connected ENSP students directly with our esteemed faculty in the ENSP major and college of AGNR.
General members of ENSPire are expected to attend monthly general body meetings and at least two scheduled events per month. As a general member, you will be able to connect with other ENSP students and have a say in what events you see on campus directly related to the environment.
If you would like to learn more about ENSPire and our mission, we welcome you to attend our first general body meeting and interest meeting on Thurs., September 22 in MATH B0421 at 7:00 PM. This is a tentative location and we will send out an e-mail if anything changes. We also invite you to fill out our interest survey and join our Facebook page!
