The Maryland Food Collective

The Maryland Food Collective is in search of new worker-owners to perform kitchen and administrative work at our campus sandwich shop. We are a “no-bosses” workplace, meaning that we make all major decisions democratically, all take part in the managerial tasks of running a business, and oversee our own and each other’s work in a non-hierarchical manner and with a view toward personal and collective growth.

Start Date: September 2018
Starting Wage: $11.50/hour

The Maryland Food Collective aspires to be an inclusive and liberatory organization. We value having a diversity of life experiences and perspectives on our team. We strongly encourage applicants who identify as persons of color, women, and/or gender nonconforming to apply. We are an equal-opportunity employer.

HOW TO APPLY: Please email mdfoodcoop@gmail.com to receive an application. Those wishing to go up for hire must first volunteer a minimum of 10 hours in the kitchen with us, to get to know the other worker-owners and learn firsthand how we function, as well as attend one Monday business meeting. A hiring interest meeting counts as a Monday meeting for these purposes. We will be holding interest meetings on September 4th and September 17th, both at 7 pm. Please note that you will receive $10.75 in food credit to spend at our store for any hours volunteered, and $7.50 in food credit for attending a meeting. Then, bring your completed application to a hiring meeting, where we will interview you and make a final decision to bring you on as an apprentice worker-owner. Hiring meetings will be held on September 10th and 24th, again both at 7pm.
