Field Conservation Policy Fellow
Defenders of Wildlife

This fellowship is designed to provide the fellow with deep experience in existing federal conservation and wildlife funding programs. Specifically, the fellow will be working closely with Defenders’ staff in D.C. and in the field to create advocacy and guidance documents for various internal and external audiences (Defenders’ staff, landowners, congressional offices) around federal payment programs that have been used or could be used to fund human-wildlife conflict avoidance (coexistence) projects. The fellow will interview Defenders’ staff and people outside of Defenders to document how federal conservation funding programs are currently used, how to apply for the programs, how the programs could be improved and Defenders’ history with the programs.

Qualifications
Education: Bachelors’ degree in natural resources science, public policy, environmental economics, conservation biology, law, wildlife management or related discipline
