FALL 2020 REGISTRATION INFORMATION
To find your date/time, go to testudo.umd.edu > Appointment & Registration Status

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: Your health and well-being are essential to us in the Environmental Science and Policy Program. If you are currently ill (or recently have been ill), please do not put your health at risk in order to attend your advising appointment. I will be happy to provide alternative advising options to meet your advising needs!

There’s a lot of important information in this message – please take time to read it carefully..

1. ADVISING
Advising is *mandatory* for all ENSP students, regardless of Concentration, GPA, or credits earned.

Please review your ENSP advising requirements and advisor contact information here: http://ensp.umd.edu/concentrations
NOTE: Advisors have different preferences re: contact information; some prefer phone calls, some prefer e-mails, at least one has an on-line appointment system. Please abide by these preferences for the best results.

Remember:
  • Advising Appointment = this is something you schedule with your advisor. At this time, you discuss which classes you will take in the spring. You will also get your advising block removed, making you eligible to register
  • Registration Date/Appointment = the date/time you are eligible to log into Testudo and add classes on your own (you can’t register unless advising is satisfied first and your block is removed!)

2. MAKING AN ADVISING APPOINTMENT
For those who HAVE officially declared their concentration:
  • Schedule your advising appointment AT LEAST (1-2) WEEKS IN ADVANCE of your registration appointment.
  • Find advisor contact information/preferences by clicking on your concentration page, where this information is listed: http://ensp.umd.edu/ concentrations
For those who HAVE NOT declared their concentration (less than 40 credits)
  • You'll make your appointment with me. To do so, please visit https://enspadvising. youcanbook.me/
  • Please schedule your advising at least TWO (2) weeks in advance of your assigned registration date.
If you miss your scheduled registration day/time, you may register at ANY TIME on your own afterwards (as long as you have all blocks removed).

3. PREPARING FOR ADVISING

Prepare to give your advisor updates on your classes. We will want to know how you are doing In each class, which of them you like the best, etc. Please review the requirements for your area of concentration. You can access information about our concentrations on the ENSP webpage here: http://ensp.umd.edu/concentrations. Also, check Benchmark requirements and assess where you are in the process of completing them: https://ensp.umd.edu/advising/ensp-benchmark-requirements. Also:
  • Develop a list of 5-7 possible classes to take, referencing the graduation plan you created when you declared your concentration
  • If you're ready to declare a concentration, develop a graduation plan! https://ensp.umd.edu/advising/graduation-plans
  • If you have questions about Study Abroad, internships, Minors, or anything else, please bring them with you.
4. REGISTRATION BLOCKS
Verify on Testudo under “Appointments and Registration Status” to see if you have any registration blocks that could prevent you from registering and resolve them as soon as possible.

The most common Registration Blocks are: vaccination blocks, financial blocks and fundamental studies blocks. Read more about registration blocks and how to resolve them here: http://registrar.umd.edu/current/registration/registration.html#blocks
