IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING FALL 2020 ADVISING AND REGISTRATION

According to the most recent statement released by the University of Maryland, the University will have reduced operations the week of March 23, 2020, and will be moving to an online environment starting March 30, 2020 and continuing at least to April 10, 2020. Therefore, all ENSP advising appointments for Fall 2020 registration will be handled remotely. This means we need to transition our mandatory advising appointments to an online format.

Below you will find information regarding ENSP advising; please read it carefully.

FOR THOSE WHO ARE “UNDECLARED” IN ENSP:

If you ALREADY HAVE an advising appointment scheduled with me, you have two options:
  1. We can still acknowledge the date/time, however rather than meeting in my office, we will meet online or via phone. I plan to utilize Google Hangouts, so we have the option to use the video call or messaging features. Let me know what method you prefer. -- or --
  2. Cancel the appointment and handle advising via email.

If you HAVE NOT scheduled an advising appointment yet, you have two options:
  1. We can meet “online”. I plan to utilize Google Hangouts, so we have the option to use the video call or messaging features. So, instead of coming to my office on your scheduled date/time, we can meet online. Make your appointment with me by visiting https://enspadvising.youcanbook.me/ (you will have the option to select how you would like to handle your appointment). – or--
  2. We can handle this via email. Email me 1-2 weeks before your registration date. Use the subject line “ENSP Advising: First initial Last name, Registration date.” By having your registration date in the subject line, I’ll know which emails to prioritize.  Example: “ENSP Advising: R. Swanson, April 13”
Prior to our appointment, please fill and return to me the following form:

REMEMBER:
  • Advising Appointment = this is something you schedule with your advisor. At this time, you discuss which classes you will take in the fall. You will also get your advising block removed, making you eligible to register.
  • Registration Date/Appointment = the date/time you are eligible to log into Testudo and add classes on your own (you can’t register unless advising is satisfied first and your block is removed!)

FOR THOSE WHO HAVE DECLARED THEIR CONCENTRATION:
Please work with your assigned faculty and staff advisors in determining the most appropriate way to handle your advising appointment. Most, I’m sure, will have similar options such as phone, email or video chats.
