Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS)

This internship is designed to provide experience in legislative affairs, conservation policy, and the Congressional appropriations process. The intern will gain experience in shaping environmental policy to protect wildlife and natural resources on a global scale, while learning about the legislative process first-hand. Possible topics for projects include combating wildlife trafficking, federal funding for international conservation, ocean conservation, and endangered species conservation.

This internship is unpaid, but will provide academic credit if applicable. Interns will telework for the duration of office closures during the COVID-19 pandemic.

WCS saves wildlife and wild places worldwide through science, conservation action, education, and inspiring people to value nature. To achieve our mission, WCS, which is headquartered at the Bronx Zoo, harnesses the power of its Global Conservation Program in nearly 60 nations and in all the world’s oceans and its five wildlife parks in New York City, visited by 4 million people annually. WCS combines its expertise in the field, zoos, and aquarium to achieve its conservation mission. WCS’s Federal Affairs office is an interface between our conservation experts and policy decision-makers in Washington, D.C.
