New Fall 2020 course: GEOG471
You may have noticed a new course pop-up in Testudo over the weekend for Fall 2020, GEOG471: Technologies for Computational Earth Observations. We've answered a few questions you may have about the course below. We hope you are as excited about this course as we are!

1. What is the course about?
Introduction and exploration of remote sensing datasets that are not emphasized in existing GEOG computational classes (Lidar, Radar, Microwave, Hyperspectral, Thermal imaging, etc). Hands-on computer labs will allow students to explore each dataset and work toward a unique student-driven project using one or several data sources.

2. What are the pre-requisites?
Listed on Testudo is a pre-req of GEOG371 (a new course in development - we hope to offer it in the Spring). For this semester only, the pre-requisites for GEOG471 will be GEOG372 + any course with programming (i.e. GEOG376, 306, 498I, CMSC121, CMSC131, etc.)

3. Will this course fulfill any major or minor requirements?
YES! With the exception of Geography majors, for whom this course would be an elective.
For GIS Majors, fulfills one of the two 400 level technical courses.
For GEOG-housed ENSP Majors, fulfills one restricted elective.
For GIS Minors, fulfills one of the two 400 level technical courses.
For RS Minors, fulfills the Integrated category requirement.
