Building an Ethic of Care Speaker Series: Free, Virtual Events
The Aldo Leopold Foundation is pleased to present a series of free, virtual events for Leopold Week 2021: Building an Ethic of Care! The events in this series are free, but spots are limited. - Monday, March 8th, 2021: Aldo Leopold, Phenology, and Climate Change, presented by Dr. Stan Temple
- Tuesday, March 9th, 2021: Why Words From the Land Matter, presented by Dr. J. Drew Lanham
- Wednesday, March 10th, 2021: Land Ethics, Social Justice, and Aldo Leopold, panel discussion featuring Dr. Curt Meine (additional panelists to be announced soon!)
- Thursday, March 11th, 2021: Green Fire Then, Now, and Tomorrow: Examining an Evolving Land Ethic, panel featuring original cast members Leslie Weldon, Michael Howard, Bill McDonald, and Curt Meine
March marks the return of geese, the flow of maple sap, and across the nation, the celebration of Leopold Week! Each year in the first week and weekend in March, organizations and individuals across the country come together to celebrate Aldo Leopold and a land ethic through community readings, film screenings, outdoor activities, and more. This year, Leopold Week is going virtual with online community events, and several virtual programs from the Aldo Leopold Foundation. The official dates for this year’s festivities are March 5-14, 2021, and all celebrations will be added to our calendar as they’re solidified. From the first planned event in Lodi, Wisconsin in 2000 to the plethora of events this year, Leopold Week has been going strong for 20 years now, bringing people from every corner of the United States and across the globe together in celebration of Aldo Leopold’s lasting legacy.
Join us in celebrating Leopold’s mission to inspire care for land and all living things, and build an ethic of care in your own communities! There are several ways you can join the festivities: host an event of your own, and participate in our daily social media challenges during Leopold Week, or join a virtual event through our Building an Ethic of Care series.
