Applications for Camp Kesem at University of Maryland's Executive Board are now open! Kesem is a nationwide nonprofit organization that supports kids through and beyond a parent’s cancer. While our main programming includes a free week-long sleepaway camp for kids in the DMV, we also provide year-round programming, including online programming, reunions, and individualized support depending on the needs of families. Being a part of the Camp Kesem at University of Maryland Executive Board means you get to play a hands-on role in the functioning of our chapter. Not only will you have the opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of children affected by a parent's cancer, but you will also make lifelong friendships along the way.
Serving on the Executive Board requires a 3-8 hour commitment per week, depending on the position.
There is availability in EVERY position, and prior involvement in Camp Kesem at University of Maryland is NOT required. The positions with a brief description of each are listed below.
Alumni, Marketing & PR Coordinators (the virtual face of CKUMD // alumni engagement)
Development Coordinators (handle all of the fundraising for CKUMD)
Make the Magic Coordinators (plan and execute our CKUMD fundraising gala)
Operations Coordinators (plan all camp-related activities for CKUMD)
Outreach Coordinators (find new campers and communicate with current CKUMD families)
Volunteer Coordinators (recruit, interview, train, and engage CKUMD volunteers)
Teen Leadership Program Coordinator (plan and lead the Leader in Training program)
Treasurer (keeps track of finances for CKUMD)
We encourage everyone to apply for as many positions as they are interested in. The application can be found at ter.ps/kesemapps. Applications are due on Wednesday, June 30th, at 11:59 pm. You will receive a follow-up email from us once following this deadline with some next steps.
We will hold interviews throughout the month of July. Each interview will last about an hour, and you will be meeting with a current and incoming Director.
