Students for Guildford Woods - Sign petition

Currently Guilford Woods still remains under imminent threat of deforestation from a proposed plan by the PG County Council which would upzone the Guilford Woods and the surrounding area to mixed-use development, which would essentially necessitate the future development/deforestation of this area. There are several concerns with the plan, with the largest being that the plan would only preserve 4 acres for preserved open space out of the 102 acres considered in the plan. This would upzone nearly all of Guilford Woods, except the small area already under the forest conservation easement. Other concerns include the plan using green washing language, neglecting public input or considerations, and other planning concerns. A consolidated summary of these explanations and information can be found here:https://sites.google.com/view/guilford-woods/how-to-help/adelphi-rd-sector-plan

The PG County Council will vote on this plan on January 18th, 2022 at 5:00pm. Our committee is working on getting the word out to have students sign the petition and sign up for public comment and testimony.
