These are words students use to describe immersive Field Ecology courses at University of Montana’s Flathead Lake Biological Station (FLBS) in spectacular northwest Montana, USA. The summer academic program emphasizes experiential learning through direct observation of biota and ecological processes plus hands-on activities in a research-intensive atmosphere.

Courses run June 20 through August 12, 2022 and will be of interest to students ranging from sophomores-to-be to upper division undergrads to early grad students.

Beginning in 1899, the Flathead Lake Biological Station of the University of Montana has been offering transformative field ecology courses in spectacular western Montana. In 2022, we resumed offering all courses associated with University of Montana B.S. Biology Field Ecology Option (aquatic or terrestrial concentration). COVID 19 precautions will be activated as necessary depending on dynamic status of the pandemic.
The Station is located on the east shore of Flathead Lake, ~85 miles north of Missoula, Montana, USA.
