Position Opening Social Media Intern Community Engagement, Environmental Justice and Health (CEEJH) Team

The School of Public Health’s Community Engagement, Environmental Justice and Health (CEEJH) team seeks a Social Media Intern to help showcase CEEJH’s activities and successes and to elevate timely environmental justice issues through our social media accounts. It is a nine-month position for 10-15 hours per week at a rate of $15.00 - $18.00 per hour depending on experience. The intern will report to CEEJH’s Social Media Manager.

 This internship will provide a creative and motivated student with the opportunity to develop their creative multimedia and social media skills in a virtual professional work environment. The Intern will use their creative skills to create new content and amplify CEEJH content in the areas of environmental justice, health disparities, climate change, environmental health, the built environment, community science, our GIS (geospatial information systems) products, services, stories, and events.

Social Media Intern Responsibilities:
● Create written, graphic, and video content for CEEJH Twitter/Facebook/YouTube/Instagram/TikTok and other social media profiles
● With the guidance of the Social Media Manager, create an editorial calendar and social media strategy for CEEJH. Content may include:
o Posts featuring our Director, staff, project partners, etc.
o Posts featuring CEEJH projects and activities
o Posts that exemplify the impact of CEEJH.
o Posts that recognize current environmental, climate, and energy justice issues in the news
o Posts to recognize important environmental, social, and climate justice eventsand figures

● Build presence on new and developing social media platforms as appropriate and in consultation with CEEJH and SPH staff.
● Assist in producing stories and creating graphics and video for social media.
● Help track social media engagement metrics and make recommendations for content based on metrics, and monitor trending environmental justice conversations for potential opportunities for CEEJH.
● Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education
● Junior, Senior or Master’s degree candidates in digital communications, marketing, advertising, journalism or related fields with knowledge of popular social media platforms from a brand perspective.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills
● Excellent Internet research skills.
● Highly organized and driven.
● Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
● Preference for someone with experience with website content management systems,
and image/video editing software
● Preferred: Awareness or experience with environmental or social justice campaigns
and/or organizations.

Job Type: Part-time. 10-15 hours per week.
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
Schedule: Flexible. Monday – Friday. Virtual work. Monday staff meeting (AM or PM).
