WINTER TERM: Registration for Winter Term opened in October. There's no obligation to register for a winter term course (personally I think you all deserve to relax!), but if you do, here are some things to be aware of:
- One day in Winter Term = one week in a typical semester: One course per Winter Term is enough. You only have 15 class sessions – so every day you’ve got reading and homework that you’d normally have a week to do. Manage your time (visiting with family, part-time jobs, and schoolwork) carefully.
- Online does not mean “easy”. Many winter courses are online. Some online courses require you to be in front of a computer at specified times; others do not; and the balance of online and between-time assignments can vary between classes. Info about online courses are posted HERE. Please contact course instructors in advance if you have questions; you can find their info on the UMD Directory.
- Finally, payment for Winter and Summer terms is due immediately upon registration: Failure to pay gets you dropped from the class and from the University; getting back in -- and all its related gatekeeping and administrative processes– is a PAIN.
Enjoy your winter break!
