Interested in Environmental Justice? Join 17 for Peace and Justice.

Are you interested in environmental justice? Consider joining 17 for Peace and Justice, UMD’s only environmental justice student organization on campus. Our goal is to empower students and other stakeholders to build community capacity to address injustices and inequalities in the environment, the economy, and society by using the 17 Principles of Environmental Justice established at the First National People of Color Environmental Leadership Summit held on October 24-27, 1991 in Washington D.C, as the overarching framework.
We are also looking for new members who may be interested in taking on a leadership role, as we are currently in the process of building a new E-Board. By assuming one of these positions, individuals can gain experience in networking, planning, organizing, and more, in addition to collaborating with other environmental orgs and hosting campus-wide events. This is an incredible opportunity to not only build your resume, but to truly make an impact on campus by continuing the advancement of critical environmental justice education and initiatives at UMD.

If you are passionate about environmental justice or simply just interested in learning more about the E-board, please feel free to fill out the contact form here: https://forms.gle/K8oun3pp8Bs6qFA4A and we'll reach out to you!
