National Aquarium Volunteer Opportunities

The National Aquarium is currently recruiting for most of our volunteer opportunities. Becoming an Aquarium volunteer can offer college students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience by committing only 8-10 hours a month. We are planning a career panel and continuing education opportunities for college student volunteers who engage with us in the fall and maintain their commitment through the spring semester.

If you have a passion for animals and a love for the natural world, a volunteer position with the National Aquarium could be right for you! Animal Care volunteers work behind the scenes handling insects, fish, shrimp and squid for feeding of the Aquarium’s animals; recording dietary data; cleaning habitats; and joining in on occasional special projects. Current open positions include: Animal Rescue, Marine Mammals, Aquarist, Aviculture, Herpetology and Horticulture.

They are also recruiting Exhibit Guide volunteers to teach informally in their exhibits. If you love talking to people from all over the world, have a curiosity about marine life, and enjoy helping others appreciate and preserve our planet, you are ideal candidates for the Exhibit Guide position!

For a detailed listing of positions and to apply, students can visit: National Aquarium - Volunteer through September 15th
