Intern / Co-Op – Geologist, Hydrogeologist, or Scientist
Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Intern / Co-Op – Geologist, Hydrogeologist, or Scientist in our Columbia, Maryland office. The position offers the opportunity to apply engineering academic knowledge to real-world situations while also learning the business skills needed for a successful consulting career. The position is full-time (40 hours/week) for approximately 13 to 15 weeks during the summer of (2025). Candidates are responsible for coordinating their own transportation to and from the office.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conducting fieldwork (up to 50%) such as soil and groundwater sampling and drilling and contractor oversight following training;
- Assisting with engineering calculations, design, and/or research;
- Preparing technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals;
- Data management and analysis, including preparing maps, tables, and figures;
- Following instructions and interacting with engineers, scientists, office administrative staff, CADD operators, contractors and construction personnel; and
- Local travel to project sites as needed
- Obtain a 40-hour OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response training.
Education and Licensure
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in a relevant geological or environmental science, or related engineering discipline. (required)
