Recent and upcoming grads: apply for the Chesapeake Conservation and Climate Corps

The application to become a 2025-26 Chesapeake Conservation and Climate Corps Member is currently open with a March 6th, 2025 deadline!

The Chesapeake Conservation and Climate Corps (Corps) Program increases opportunities and access to green careers across the Chesapeake Bay watershed by placing new professionals (ages 18-25) with nonprofits and government agencies for a one-year term of stipend-supported service ($33,280) in the state of Maryland. The Corps serves as a bridge into the environmental career field by providing Corps Members with experience working at an organization, leadership and professional development training, mentorship, networking opportunities, and a support system of other new professionals.

For the 2025-26 Program, potential organizations that Corps Members could work with include:
  • Federal agencies (US Fish & Wildlife Service, US Geological Service, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration);
  • State agencies (MD Dept of Natural Resources, MD Dept of the Environment, Maryland Environmental Trust);
  • County agencies (Howard County Office of Sustainability, Anne Arundel Department of Recreation and Parks);
  • Large nonprofits (National Aquarium, Chesapeake Bay Foundation, The Nature Conservancy, National Wildlife Federation); and
  • Local nonprofits (ShoreRivers, Chesapeake Conservancy, Nature Forward, Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay).
Corps Members engage in a wide range of activities in the fields of climate change, environmental restoration, environmental education, forestry, sustainable agriculture, energy conservation, and community engagement. A full list of available host sites and a description of the activities each host organization is offering a potential Corps Member can be found at https://cbtrust.org/chesapeake-climate-corps/apply/members/.

The deadline to apply is March 6th so please share with any of your students who will be looking for positions in the environmental field after graduation, as well as other colleagues. A program flyer is attached, the application package can be found on the Trust website linked here, and below is a short summary of the opportunity. I would also love to present this opportunity to students or faculty or have a more in-depth conversation with you to provide more details.

We are also providing a virtual information session to share details about the program, outline the application process, and answer questions from potential applicants. The virtual info session for the Corps will occur on Wednesday, February 5th at 4pm and potential applicants can register at: https://bit.ly/corpsmember25
