SUMMER INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY
Environmental & Community Outreach Intern
Location: Chesapeake Bay Region | In-person with flexible scheduling ecoLatinos is seeking motivated and community-driven college students for a Summer Internship supporting grassroots environmental initiatives in Latino communities. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the fields of climate resilience, watershed protection, environmental justice, and public education—while contributing to meaningful, equity-focused change.
Who We’re Looking For:
We welcome applicants currently pursuing degrees in the following areas:
● Environmental Science
● Environmental Studies
● Ecology or Conservation Biology
● Climate Science or Atmospheric Science
● Sustainability Studies
● Geography or Urban Studies with an Environmental Focus
● Public Health, Sociology, or Communications (with interest in environmental justice or community advocacy)
Intern Responsibilities:
Interns will work alongside the ecoLatinos team and partners to support a variety of projects, including:
● Assisting with community outreach, education workshops, and bilingual event coordination
● Supporting data collection, documentation, and reporting for climate and conservation programs
● Participating in fieldwork and community engagement activities, including planting, cleanups, and public events
● Contributing to communications, social media, and storytelling efforts to amplify local impact
● Helping translate or adapt outreach materials (if bilingual)
Qualifications:
● Currently enrolled in a college or university program
● Preferred majors/minors include those listed above
● Strong interest in environmental advocacy, social justice, or public education
● Ability to work effectively in diverse community settings
● Bilingual in Spanish and English is highly preferred, but not required
● Reliable, organized, and an excellent communicator
● Comfortable with outdoor work and community events
