Garden Interest Meeting at UMD Hillel

There is an interest meeting for the building of a new garden for the new Hillel building as well as garden related programming. The event will be in collaboration with Adamah the Jewish environmental justice club.

WAITLIST AND HOLD FILE FAQ

If seats are full for a class you need, GET ON THE WAITLIST. More seats will continue to be released as the semester goes on. Other students on campus will also be adjusting their schedules; as soon as they drop a class you're waitlisted for, you get "bumped up" a spot. Q: What is a HOLD FILE? A: HOLDFILES are a “Waitlist for Waitlists.” Holdfiles "protect" classes for incoming students. To be sure new students have something left to choose from, the University does not "release" at the same time all the seats it has available in popular classes. Usually, students placed high on Waitlists get the classes they want, provided the "ratio" of seats available to waitlist is good. In other words, a HIST 200 class with 150 students and #15 on the HOLDFILE is a better bet than an Art Studio class of 25 that has 37 on the HOLDFILE. Students will be moving their schedules around. Overview of Section: The Environmental Enforcement Section is one of the largest litigating Sections in the Department and includes nearly one‐third of the Division's lawyers. The Section is responsible for bringing civil judicial actions under most federal laws enacted to protect public health and the environment from the adverse effects of pollution, such as the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Safe Drinking Water Act, Oil Pollution Act, RCRA and the Superfund law (CERCLA). The breadth of the Section's practice is extensive and challenging. It includes cases of national scope, such as cases against multiple members of an identified industry, to obtain broad compliance with the environmental laws. Through its enforcement of the Superfund law, the Section seeks to compel responsible parties either to clean up hazardous waste sites or to reimburse the United States for the cost of cleanup, thereby ensuring that they, and not the public, bear the burden of paying for cleanup. Caltech recognizes that differences of perspective, experience, and thought is essential to achieving and maintaining scientific excellence. The WAVE Fellows program supports this goal by increasing visibility and accessibility to our PhD programs to undergraduates in STEM fields who are seriously considering attending graduate school. . WAVE Fellows is a 10-week undergraduate research program that provides robust programming in the areas of academic and professional development. Eligibility: Students must be current sophomores through non-graduating seniors and must be U.S. citizens, U.S. permanent residents, or students with DACA status. A minimum GPA of 3.4 is required.
