ATLAS conference at UMD (EJ/Sustainability sessions) - March 31 & April 1

We are just one week away from the ATLAS Conference! This conference is free and open to the public. Registration is open through Sunday, March 29.

The Africa Through Language and Area Studies (ATLAS) Initiative is made possible through University of Maryland’s Grand Challenges Grants. This team grant is led by Miranda Abadir, senior faculty specialist at the College of Arts and Humanities (ARHU), and Matthew Thomann, associate professor of anthropology (BSOS), with support from many collaborators from across campus.

Our theme for this year is “Identity, Belonging, and Postcolonial Politics: Reflections and Futures,” featuring scholars and practitioners from UMD and around the DMV.

Roundtable Sessions:

  • Global Health, March 31 @ 2pm

  • Arts, Literature, and Cultural Production, April 1 @ 10:35 am

  • Environmental Justice and Sustainability, April 1 @ 12:55 pm

  • Governance and Politics, April 1 @ 2:25 pm
