Sierra Club Opportunity for Students

The Sierra Club is launching their District Captains Program with an Orientation on August 26th at 7 pm.

The Maryland District Captains Program empowers volunteers to be leaders in grassroots legislative advocacy through training and both 1:1 and group support. District Captains build local power in their districts, inviting like-minded neighbors to take action and strengthening the Maryland Sierra Club’s relationship with legislators by maintaining year-round communication with state delegates and senators. District Captains will participate in quarterly virtual meetings, in-person and virtual organizing trainings, and work with the Chapter’s organizer to move environmental legislation forward. During the legislative session (January-April), District Captains will help organize and lead constituent teams from their districts in Lobby Night meetings with legislators and are pre-trained on lobbying techniques and our priority issues.
