The BSOS Dean's Student Advisory (DSAC) is looking for a student leader from ENSP (any BSOS concentration) to join DSAC in spring 2027. In the past, students from ENSP have been very important contributors to the Council.
BSOS DSAC advises the Deans on undergraduate matters, identifies student concerns, and develops student-led initiatives and events for students. There are examples in the 2025-2026 Annual Report.
BSOS DSAC is a unique co-curricular experience in offering project-based learning, skill development, and networking opportunities - all while earning students academic credit. Prospective students should have space in the schedule for a 1-credit course and be able to attend the weekly council meeting on Tuesdays from 5:30 - 7:20 pm in spring 2027.
Dr. Blessing Enekwe and Dr. Katherine Russell spend every Tuesday evening with DSAC. They both really enjoy guiding the Council as a whole and mentoring these student leaders individually.
Interested students may:
1. Review the DSAC Annual Report & DSAC Constitution to learn more about the council.
2. Email bsosdsac@umd.edu with their updated resume and answers to the following two questions by November 20, 2026.
A. Briefly describe one issue that affects students in the BSOS College and how you currently work, or would work, to address it. Word count: 250-300.
B. Discuss a meaningful experience where you believe you exhibited leadership.
Word count: 250-300. Leadership can mean a formal role, but can also mean a variety of other experiences.
3. Selected students will receive an invitation for an interview!
