Paid internship opportunities with National Park Service The U. S. National Park Service (NPS) National Capital Region (NCR), Office of Natural Resources and Science (NRS) is seeking to fill paid internship positions. Interns will work closely with the NPS Urban Ecology Research Learning Alliance’s Science Education Coordinator. UERLA is a National Park Service Research Learning Center that serves 16 parks in National Capital Region. They translate complex research results into readily understandable information, providing research, education, and technical assistance for parks. UERLA also provides science communication outreach to park managers and external audiences via websites, workshops, and publications. Internships Available American Association of Geographers (AAG) The AAG in Washington, DC seeks interns on a year-round basis for the spring, summer, and fall semesters. Interns participate in most AAG programs and projects such as education, outreach, research, website, publications, or the Annual Meeting. The AAG also arranges for interns to accompany different AAG staff on visits to related organizations or events of interest during the course of their internship. A monthly stipend of $500 is provided and interns are expected to make their own housing and related logistical arrangements. Enrollment in a Geography or closely related program is preferred but not a prerequisite for these opportunities. Volunteer opportunities Sustainable Agricultural Systems Lab   The Sustainable Agricultural Systems Lab at the Beltsville Agricultural Research Center (USDA) is  accepting applications for student positions assisting with a range of projects evaluating the sustainability of cropping systems in the Mid-Atlantic. These will involve diverse activities including soil, gas, and plant sampling in the field, lab work, data entry and management, sample processing and organization, and miscellaneous projects supporting research activities. Field sites, lab and offices are all approximately 10-15 minutes north of U of MD campus. Public transportation is available from campus to reach our main building. These positions allow for flexible scheduling, but must be prearranged with supervisor. No experience is required, but an ideal candidate will have an interest in sustainable agriculture and/or be a science major with an interest in research. All training will be provided. School for Field Studies New Program: Patagonia The School for Field Studies is excited to announce that we are now accepting applications for our new semester program, WILD PATAGONIA: FIRE AND ICE . The program, based at our CENTER FOR CLIMATE STUDIES in Puerto Natales, Chile, will be offered during fall and spring semesters beginning Fall 2019.
