Summer 2018 GIS Intern Conservation International (CI) CI is currently recruiting a GIS Intern for a paid summer internship in our Arlington, VA office. The internship is to take place from June 1st, 2018 thru August 21, 2018 POSITION SUMMARY: The GIS Intern will work on one of the following efforts currently underway at the Geospatial Applications Team: Implementing a national level investment prioritization for nature-based solutions to climate change, including reduced emissions from deforestations and degradation, biodiversity conservation and ecosystem-based adaptation. Firecast system testing, outreach, and content development. Documenting MCS's use of technology as part of CI's "Digital DNA" program. An interdisciplinary study of pests and vectors in human-made landscapes, with a focus on mosquitoes and ticks in the temperate US. We will focus on social and environmental factors affecting infestations and their management, and explore important ecological, economic, and health impacts of infestation, key research questions, and control strategies in the 21st century.

Summer internship program City Wildlife City Wildlife’s Summer Internship Program offers college and graduate students the opportunity to play an important role in the care, rearing, and rehabilitation of orphaned and injured wild animals. Over the course of 10 to 12 weeks, City Wildlife interns have the opportunity to shadow our wildlife veterinarian and rehabilitation staff members and learn the natural history and husbandry of the animals in our care. During our summer season, interns may be trained in specialized animal care depending on previous experience and skill set. Training may include handling animals, feeding small mammals and birds, and assisting with animal releases. Typically, we see baby birds of all species in the spring and summer, baby squirrels in the spring and late summer, and Mallard ducklings in the summer.
