Paid masters opportunity South Pacific Fisheries, citizen science, and conservation Interested in pursuing an MA in marine resource management, fisheries, human ecology, or science and technology topics?  San Diego State University was awarded a 4-year grant from the NSF-Coupled Natural Human Systems (CNH) program to fund several MA students for marine anthropology work in French Polynesia. It's an exciting interdisciplinary project involving Moorea Long Term Ecological Research scientists. One part of the project is a citizen science initiative where fishers are tracking their fishing activities with GPS-enabled smart-phones. Another part of the project involves a joint marine scientist-fisher monitoring effort where they are collaboratively monitoring and co-generating knowledge about the lagoon to help inform marine management. RESTORE Career Fair On November 10th from 1-3 pm, RESTORE, the student group for Environmental Science students, will be hosting our annual Career Fair. We will have lunch provided for the event. It will be on campus with the exact room to be announced shortly. At the event, students get to talk to alumni who have begun their environmental careers in the area, and find out about their options for internships and post-graduation jobs. NOAA Hollings Undergraduate Scholarship for Sophomores Attention SOPHOMORES studying atmospheric and oceanic sciences, environmental engineering, environmental sciences and policy, or ANY major with a strong environmental focus or interest!!! Intern for a Day Intern for a Day connects undergraduate students with alumni, parents, employers and community partners for one day internship/shadowing experiences. These experiences are offered every fall and spring semester. This program is PERFECT for those who don't know what area of Environmental Science/Policy they want to get into. A day-long job shadowing experience will give students a "day in the life" of someone who works in an area particular interest... as well as some practical experience to add to their resume! Plant Science Seminar Dr. Grace Brush, Environmental Health and Engineering, Johns Hopkins University Thursday October 11 at 4:00 p.m. in PLSC 1130 Dr. Brush is on the faculty in Environmental Health and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University and is an eminent scholar of the history and paleohistory of the Chesapeake Bay. Her research has yielded insights into links between terrestrial land use changes and sedimentation and biology of the Bay.
