Taking Nature Black roundtable

Join the Audubon Naturalist Society and the U.S. Forest Service's Office of Urban and Community Forestry for the first Taking Nature Black  Faith-based Roundtable: Grounded in Faith, Rooted in Nature .  This compelling discussion will happen virtually, via Zoom, Thursday, February 10, 2:00 – 3:30 pm and is FREE and open to the public.

TERPmail account

This is just a reminder of the change coming to all student emails starting on February 16th. See the information below and use the link at the bottom to read more detailed information from DIT about the change. Undergraduate Students On February 16, contact information in Testudo will be set to point email to a TERPmail account, unless the student has a sponsored UMD Gmail account for university business. If students have a sponsored UMD Gmail account, that will be set as the destination for their email in Testudo. Students may update their email address in Testudo to point to their TERPmail address at their convenience before February 16, 2022. Gilman Scholarship for Virtual and In-person Study Abroad

Are you an undergraduate student, Pell Grant recipient, and U.S. citizen with international interests? You may be eligible to apply for the U.S. State Department’s  Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship , which provides up to $5,000!  In the last 5 1/2 years, 151  UMD  students have won Gilman Scholarships, winning a total of $524,050!  The deadline to apply for virtual or in-person programs that begin between May 1, 2022 to April 30, 2023, is March 1, 2022.   Please email Ms. Annette Spivy (aspivy@umd.edu) if you are interested in this opportunity! ***** The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), along with State and County authorities, began a cooperative campaign (presently known as the Cattle Fever Tick Eradication Program) in 1906 to eliminate bovine babesiosis from the U.S. cattle population. Bovine babesiosis is an often-fatal disease of cattle and commonly known by several names, including cattle tick fever. Bovine babesiosis is transmitted to cattle by Cattle fever ticks ( Rhipicephalus  ( Boophilus )  microplus  and  Rhipicephalus  ( Boophilus )  annulatus ). The disease and the ticks were officially eradicated from the continental United States in 1943, except for a narrow permanent quarantine buffer zone in south Texas that extends from the city of Del Rio, Texas, to the Gulf of Mexico. Maryland Summer Scholars Program for 2022

The Maryland  Summer   Scholars   Program (MSS) provides opportunities for University of Maryland, College Park (UMD) undergraduates to spend much of the  summer  working closely with faculty mentors on ambitious research,  scholarly , or artistic projects. The MSS program provides awards of $3,000 to approximately 25-30 undergraduates each  summer . Many  Summer  Scholars expand their  summer  research into an independent study or honors thesis project the following autumn semester, and find that their research experience helps distinguish their applications for graduate study, fellowships, internships, employment and other competitive opportunities. Maryland  Summer  Scholars (MSS) may conduct their  summer  research on the College Park campus or elsewhere in the U.S. or abroad as required by the nature of the project. MaryPIRG Students Spring 2022 INTERNSHIPS and VOLUNTEER Opportunities

Hello! My name is Sarah and I'm the Campus Organizer with MaryPIRG Students. MaryPIRG is a student-funded, student-directed public interest advocacy organization. This spring, we are running campaigns to fight climate change, protect public health, end hunger, promote civic engagement, make textbooks affordable, and more!  We are currently hiring interns and looking for students to join us as volunteers on all of our projects!
