Fall 2023 Internship - EarthDay.Org

This is internship can be hybrid or remote, depending on location. EARTHDAY.ORG is a nonprofit organization that works with more than 50,000 partners in 196 countries to sustain and support the modern environmental movement. Interns will work closely with EDO’s staff to write blogs, conduct research and coordinate grassroots outreach. Interns will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the workforce, bolstering their professional resumes and building connections in the environmental field. April 22nd marks Earth Day each year. EARTHDAY.ORG interns will be vital in preparing for this event, while working toward solving  climate change, ending plastic pollution, and protecting endangered species — all while activating the environmental movement across the globe. September 11 - Last day of Schedule Adjustment (last day to drop without a "W")

A friendly reminder that SEPTEMBER 11, 2023 is the Last Day of the Schedule Adjustment Period. This means it's the last day to make changes to your Fall 2023 schedule (and the Last day to Drop a course without a “W”). SENIORS - September 11 is also the last day to apply for Fall graduation clearance. The “application” will ask you which degree you are applying for (B.S.); what is your “best” e-mail address; where do you want your diploma sent after graduation, etc.  Apply for graduation here: http://www.testudo.umd.edu/ . If you're completing a SPRING internship, and you wish to get credit for it, please READ THIS PAGE CAREFULLY: http://ensp.umd.edu/internships/how-earn-credit-ensp386  You'll need to submit a completed internship proposal before you can be registered for ENSP386. Proposals are due to me by February 9, 2024. You will not be adding yourself to ENSP386. I will take care of adding you to the course once I have received (and reviewed) your Internship Proposal. Your Internship Proposal will include:  Coversheet At least six academic and/or career objectives related to the content of the internship Description of work activities Proposed academic research topic AND seven (7) examples of scholarly source materials for your term paper (including at least 3 peer-reviewed articles). Your research paper topic is of your choosing and should connect the content of your internship with the content of your concentration (and not necessarily what you did during your internship expe

Study Abroad updates

Education Abroad updates: AGNR has an EA Peer Mentor, Ms. Maria Lanasa, a senior in ENSP (!!) who will be working with the college to promote study abroad. Maria will be at the Sept. 5 Study Abroad Fair, please stop by the AGNR table and meet her.  AGNR students enrolling in Winter courses will receive $500 off the cost of the study abroad program. Seminar and Study Abroad Class: Agriculture and Environment in Nicaragua

  Sustainable Agriculture and Environment in Nicaragua (DSSP, DVCC for completing both courses)   Seminar (ANSC 371, 1 credit) University of Maryland, Fall 2023. Prerequisite for ANSC 372. Travel Abroad (ANSC 372, 2 credits) Winter Term, Jan. 2-16, 2024. Requires completion of ANSC 371. Nicaragua is a model for sustainable development having increased resilience to climate change, eliminated hunger, decreased poverty and illiteracy, while producing 90% of its own food and exporting beef, coffee, and fruit. All of this was achieved while decreasing per capita greenhouse gas emissions which are 1/8 as high as in the US. Learn more here!

Student Interest for a College Climate Gathering at Brown University

The College Climate Gathering at Brown University is a two-night conference from Nov 3-5 hosted by Sunrise Movement Brown for new and veteran student climate activists to learn organizing skills, connect, and attend talks with experienced environmental justice advocates and academics. We aim to collectively build a new generation of college climate activists who organize with justice-oriented principles, and to that end we hope to bring together students interested in climate action from all backgrounds and levels of experience.   If you are interested in attending or learning more, please contact Ava at collegeclimategathering@gmail.com. Paid fall internships with National Park Service

The University of Maryland has a partnership with the National Park Service to provide paid internships for UMD students. We have four paid internship positions available for the upcoming academic year, three of which require expertise outside the life sciences (i.e., GIS and engineering). Interns will work closely with the NPS Urban Ecology Research Learning Alliance’s Science Education Coordinator. Students must be enrolled in a degree program at the University of Maryland. EarthShare Outreach Intern - Fall 2023

Do you love talking to people and are interested in taking action to protect our planet? EarthShare is seeking a communicative, energetic, and ambitious full-time intern to attend virtual and in-person charitable events this fall. You will be the face of EarthShare on the campaign trail, so a positive and enthusiastic attitude is a must. Your main focus will be to engage potential donors, provide materials and take away items (if applicable), and explain EarthShare’s role within workplace giving campaigns.
