Ag Scholarship Opportunity The Farm Credit Foundation for Agricultural Advancement is giving away ten scholarships, each worth $10,000 to local students planning to pursue a career in agriculture. That’s right – we’re giving away $100,000 directly to ag students in our community! Our scholarship program is open to all high school seniors or currently enrolled college students residing in MidAtlantic Farm Credit’s territory who are planning to work in the agriculture industry. This could mean you're planning to be a farmer, food scientist, veterinarian, ag educator, engineer, or even a Farm Credit employee! Internships with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service The Service offers over 400 paid internships per year to students 18 and older interested in stewardship of the environment and wildlife conservation. In addition to getting paid, interns gain awareness, knowledge and experience working with the Service, mostly on wildlife refuges across the county, as part of the largest conservation system in the world. Waterkeepers Chesapeake Fair Farms Program Assistant Internship Fair Farms is building a movement of Marylanders of all stripes, working together for a new food system — one that is equitable, fair to farmers, invests in homegrown healthy foods, and restores our waterways. The Fair Farms Campaign brings together consumers, farmers, public health professionals, and conservationists to advocate for visionary farming practices and while protecting our waterways and our lands. Together, with our Farmer Advisory Council, our Steering Committee and other Partners, we will build a truly sustainable food system that is fair to all. Common Good City Farm Part-time LEAF Youth Program Assistant   Common good City Farm is looking for a creative and energetic individual to support their LEAF after-school program. LEAF (Learning for the Environment, Agriculture, and Food ) is a drop in youth program designed for elementary age students that live in the surrounding area of Common Good City Farm. The program focuses on hands on learning including garden science, working in our youth garden, nutrition, making art for the farm and each class involves preparing a snack using fresh produce. The program takes place primarily on our farm space, but will move indoors as needed during winter or severe weather. The LEAF Youth Program Assistant will take part in curriculum planning, procuring needed supplies, facilitating lessons, data tracking and managing volunteers. Northeast Specialty Crop Water Symposium UVM's Dudley H. Fellowship opportunities Maryland Forestry Foundation The Maryland Forestry Foundation has received a grant award from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources enabling us to offer fellowship opportunities for students. Students in Maryland who are currently enrolled in a Natural Resources major and who have aspirations to work in the field of Natural Resources are welcome to apply for a Fellowship that runs from Oct. 1, 2019 to July 31, 2020. Scholarship Available New Jersey Wildlife Students The New Jersey Chapter of The Wildlife Society is accepting applications for a $1,000 scholarship to a qualified undergraduate student in wildlife or fisheries, or conservation education/communications. Applicants must be New Jersey residents, though students attending school outside New Jersey are eligible. To be competitive, applicants should demonstrate high academic achievement and have a well-rounded background of volunteer and/or paid experience in the wildlife or conservation field. THE BARTLETT TREE FOUNDATION, INC. At-Large Scholarship – Spring Semester 2020   The Bartlett Tree Foundation is continuing to offer our at-large scholarships for the upcoming spring semester. This year The Foundation will be offering two at-large scholarships in the amount of $1,000.00 each. Much like our grant-in-aide scholarships, our criteria for scholarship qualification are that the student must be enrolled as a full-time student and that they have a genuine interest in a career in arboriculture or urban forestry.   The scholarships will be available to the Bartlett Tree Foundation supported schools as well as other, two and four year colleges and universities that have programs in horticulture, arboriculture, urban forestry or a related field.   Our at-large scholarship program allows the Foundation to assist new programs outside of our currently supported schools, while also providing the opportunity for existing Foundation schools to assist additional deserving student
