ENST hiring student workers

ENST is still hiring  students  right now for summer (can extend through fall and beyond) for their part-time  job  in the  Project Development Shop .  Students  would be working with power tools and machinery to build equipment for ENST research projects and other assigned activities for 15-20 hours/week,  $12.50/hour (then $13.25/hour on January 1, 2023).  Applicants should have some experience working with power tools but rest assured that they will be fully trained on the equipment. 8th Annual University of Maryland Symposium on Environmental Justice and Health Disparities

  (#UMDejsymposium2022) will convene community members, advocates, nonprofit organizers, policymakers, researchers, and students over the course of three days for an in-depth examination of ongoing environmental and climate justice issues. The last day of the symposium will focus on issues specifically affecting the DC-Maryland-Virginia (DMV) region, while the first two days will examine the issues in a national context . The symposium will take place virtually on August 11th and 12th, 2022 , and in-person on Saturday, August 13th, 2022 at the University of Maryland Stamp Student Union. The symposium is free! Did you know the Environmental Science and Policy Program is celebrating its 25th year?! To commemorate this occasion, the ENSP program would like to invite our undergraduate students* to share a poster at the ENSP 25th Anniversary Student Showcase & Celebration, which will be held Wednesday, October 5th, 2022 from 4-6 p.m. at Stamp Student Union, Colony Ballroom.  This is a great opportunity to show and highlight your accomplishments to the ENSP community while celebrating 25 years as a program at the University of Maryland.  Posters will be displayed around the Ballroom and students will have the opportunity to share with fellow students, alumni and faculty. Are you interested in becoming an environmental lawyer for the American public? The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has a mission to understand and predict changes in climate, weather, oceans and coasts, to share that knowledge with others, and to conserve and manage coastal and marine ecosystems and resources. This event will kick off with an introduction to the work of NOAA’s Office of General Counsel, followed by a panel discussion where attorneys will share what it is like to work at NOAA, as well as offer advice on how to pursue a federal legal job. These panelists represent a broad cross-section of federal legal careers, including attorneys of diverse backgrounds. Science topics will include Climate Change Science. The Science Lesson Plans (In-person & Virtual) Intern will evaluate existing lesson plans for President’s Park and the White House Visitor Center educational programs. Climate Internships for Fall 2022

Citizens’ Climate Lobby/Citizens’ Climate Education (CCL) is a national nonprofit organization that builds grassroots support for climate legislation. We are currently recruiting students and recent graduates to join our team as interns or fellows . We have opportunities with a variety of different departments that may appeal to students across many disciplines. These experiences provide valuable work experience, networking opportunities, and may include academic or financial benefits. You can learn more about our current openings on our website . The application deadline is June 15th, 2022 .  For students looking to deepen their learning outside of the classroom, we offer a free Climate Advocacy Certificate Program each semester. This provides valuable transferable skills in advocacy, climate science, and communication over the course of a 15-week remote course. This course explores journalism paradigms for covering climate, focusing on three important concepts: climate change as an urgent crisis; the climate justice movement; and climate as a security issue - including global, national, community, and personal security.

Maryland Conservation Corps Recruiting Young Adults for 2022-23

The   Maryland Department of Natural Resources   is now   recruiting   members for the   Maryland Conservation Corps , an award-winning AmeriCorps program that engages young adults aged 17-25 in extensive conservation, environmental, and natural resources management projects across the state. The department seeks to hire 35 full-time members who will work on eight teams for an 11-month period, beginning in late September 2022. Read more and apply HERE .
