Maryland Democracy Initiative (MDI) Summer Internship Program Application

This summer, the  Maryland Democracy Initiative  (MDI) is offering a prestigious opportunity for 18 top UMD students to engage in a paid internship to work in some of the most impactful organizations in the nation working to strengthen voter mobilization and voter education in colleges and high schools. This internship program was developed in partnership with the UMD Fellows Program and the Students Learn Students Vote Coalition (SLSV). SLSV is the nation’s strategy hub and largest non-partisan network dedicated to increasing college student voting rates.  The  Laufer  Democracy Internship Program builds on MDI’s work in 2023, co-hosting the National Student Vote Summit at UMD with TerpsVote. Appalachian Conservation Corps internships

Appalachian Conservation Corps is currently recruiting for over 20 internships at National Parks and Battlefields in Maryland, Virginia, and D.C. MANRRS panel: Where Policy and Practice Meet (Feb. 28)

Minorities in Agriculture Natural Resources and Related Sciences (MANRRS) and the College of Agriculture are hosting an event next week that features panelists in a range of environmental science, policy, and Ag related fields. This panel, "Where Policy and Practice Meet", will feature an environmental lawyer, a food politician, an environmental justice staff attorney at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, a science technical director from the USDA, and a Law student at UMBC.   The event is   February 28th, 2024 at 6:30 PM in 1130 Plant Sciences.  Be sure to RSVP.

In ANTH/GEOG 308, students will explore the role Urban Agriculture has in contributing to sustainable and equitable food systems, focusing on comparisons between the US and Italy. You will study the similarities and differences of the ecological, social, political, and economic policies and systems that shape Urban Agriculture. By studying in Perugia, you will get hands-on experience with the Urban Agricultural practices of central Italy! In addition to ANTH-GEOG308, students can also enroll in another course offered by the Umbra Institute during SummerSession 2.   The course is through the MD-in-Perugia program, and will be offered in Summer Session II (6/28 - 7/27).
