Scholarship Application Adele's Circle of Women Adele’s Circle of Women Scholarship grants annual scholarships to help deserving students who advance the role of women and girls in their academic studies and activities, who plan to further this leadership in their personal and professional lives. The scholarship seeks to aid emerging student leaders and/or recognize accomplished student leaders. The five scholarships provide a $500 award to a current University of Maryland undergraduate or graduate student. Summer Program University of Oxford Students are encouraged to apply for the Enterprise and the Environment Summer School which will take place from 1st - 13th July 2018 in Oxford. This is a 2 week programme which teaches from the UMD Smith School’s strengths in environmental economics and policy, law, energy, enterprise management and financial markets and investment. It is intended for students who are passionate about leading environmental change and wanting to address the critical global challenges we will face in the 21st century. During the Summer School attendees will be provided with over 50 hours of teaching (through a combination of lectures, simulations, field trips and case-studies), engage in discussion with University of Oxford academics, and network with a global classroom of students. 2018 Maryland Summer Scholars Program On-Campus Info Sessions The Maryland Summer Scholars Program (MSS) provides opportunities for University of Maryland, College Park (UMD) undergraduates to spend much of the summer working closely with faculty mentors on ambitious research, scholarly, or artistic projects. The MSS program provides awards of $3,000 to approximately 25-30 undergraduates each summer. Many Summer Scholars expand their summer research into an independent study or honors thesis project the following autumn semester, and find that their research experience helps distinguish their applications for graduate study, fellowships, internships, employment and other competitive opportunities. In this applied and project-oriented course, students will explore conservation of biodiversity and ecosystem services through the lens of the African vulture crisis . Coursework offers opportunities for ethnographic and mixed methods training while learning more about the conservation of biodiversity and ecosystem services as an ecological and environmental anthropology issue. Student work will contribute to a larger synthesis project conducted by an international, interdisciplinary team aimed at preventing the collapse of vulture populations across sub-Saharan Africa .
