EspindoLab, plant/insect paid summer internship, May-August

Floral supplements are commonly used in agricultural settings to increase insect biodiversity and ecosystem services. This project focuses on the spillover effects of floral supplements on crop yield, parasitoid and pollinator diversity and reproductive output of wild and cultivated plants.

This project takes place at the UMD Beltsville Agricultural Research Center in Laurel, MD. The work will involve data collection in the field, including collecting insects and plant seeds using various means. Prior field experience is not required. Field data collection begins fairly early in the morning (leaving campus around 7 or 8am) and wraps up in the afternoons. The paid position is $15/hour and there are opportunities for independent projects. Email Katy, kciola@umd.edu, if you are interested :)
