About the conference:
ANTHRO+ is a conference put on by the  at the University of Maryland, College Park. UMD's Department of Anthropology has a focus on medical anthropology, environmental anthropology, historical archaeology, and the study of cultural heritage, but all subfields and theoretical focuses are welcome at our conference!

The goal of the conference is to enable graduate and undergraduate students of anthropology and related disciplines to present and engage with research in a student-centric space. This year will mark the 14th annual ANTHRO+ Conference, and we are interested in highlighting research both inside and outside the discipline of anthropology. While normally an in-person only event, this year ANTRHO+ will be held online over the course of Saturday, March 11, 2023, from 9 AM to 5 PM. This year’s theme, Anthropology of Community: Reconnecting with the Field, focuses on emerging methods that have assisted the anthropologist/researcher in connecting with a new field given the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, our focus on community opens up a discussion of community-engaged methodologies, work on heritage, and the understanding of the socio-cultural implications of change or continuity and people’s response to it in both the past and present.
