Internships with the House Agriculture Committee

The House Committee on Agriculture is seeking an energetic, responsible student for a full-time, paid internship for the Spring 2020 session. Working closely with Committee staff, this position will offer students the opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge of the legislative process at the Committee level. Students will also learn the ins-and-outs of the Agriculture Committee’s daily routines and procedures. 

Intern duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: 
- Performing front office duties; 
- Answering and screening telephone calls;
- Greeting and screening visitors;
- Assisting the Chief Clerk and Deputy Clerk with preparation for Committee hearings, business meetings, Committee markups, and legislation before the full House;
- Assisting professional staff with research;
- Attending briefings on agriculture issues and providing summaries to professional staff; and 
- Performing special projects as assigned.

Students should be interested in the legislative process, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be team-oriented, reliable and hard-working.
