UMD Wildlife Internship (Spring/Summer 2024)

 

The Mullinax Wildlife Spatial Ecology Lab in ENST is looking for more interns - they have an open start time and are looking for those who can stay on for some summer fieldwork.

The Mullinax Wildlife Spatial Ecology Lab (AWSEL) in the Environmental Science and Technology (ENST) Department seeks dedicated individuals to assist a research program starting in the spring-summer of 2024. We will be investigating wildlife communities in Montgomery County, Maryland, and their role in maintaining tick-borne diseases. We need interns to identify species via camera trap analysis and tick collection. Applicants are expected to work for at least one semester, with preference given to candidates available longer. These positions can also serve a class credit when applicable. Work hours will typically consist of 10-15 hours a week.

Preferred candidate qualifications include:

For camera data processing
● Strong computer skills in excel and data organization
● Good orienteering and time management skills
● Ability to process data independently
● Assist in tick sampling data management
