The Annual Beck Environmental Lecture is Going Virtual!

The annual Beck Environmental Lecture, hosted by the Fall for the Book festival at George Mason University, is going completely virtual this year. The event is free to watch on Crowdcast and will also be available to watch or listen to at a later date for those who can’t make the scheduled time.

This year’s Beck Environmental lecture will be on Wednesday, October 21st at 7pm, featuring Dr. Ayana Elizabeth Johnson. Dr. Johnson’s anthology titled All We Can Save: Truth, Courage, and Solutions for the Climate Crisis gathers the poetry, prose, and art of women at the forefront of the climate change movement. Students can register for the event here: https://www.crowdcast.io/e/fftb_BeckEnvironmentalLecture/register

Also, check out our Climates of Change virtual exhibit. Fall for the Book has partnered with ACM Hypertext 2020 to present a virtual collection of interactive art, games, prose, and poetry with an emphasis on the environmental crisis. Imagine the story of an animal facing the Australian bushfires in Prosthetics for a Changing Climate, play as a park ranger facing destructive tourism in a National Park in Trail, or read an interactive poem in Climatophosis.

Students can register for upcoming events and catch our past events on our Crowdcast page: https://www.crowdcast.io/fallforthebook. Our full event schedule can also be found on our website: https://fallforthebook.org/2020-festival-events/
