CivicSpark and the Climate Action Corps are looking for early professionals eager to tackle the climate crisis and build community resilience to join the 20-21 Fellow service year cohort!

Both of the Local Government Commission’s national service programs offer a unique opportunity for emerging professionals passionate about environmental and community resilience to build experience in the sector.  From September 2021 to August 2022, over 140 Fellows will bring energy, commitment, and drive to support communities across California tackle their environmental and community resilience issues while gaining professional experience!

CivicSpark Fellows focus on projects that support local government capacity through planning and policy support to address community resilience issues such as:

  • Sustainable transportation 
  • Energy efficiency 
  • Climate action planning
  • Water conservation & drought response
  • Equity and affordable housing

Climate Action Corps Fellows focus on projects engaging communities with direct climate action such as:

  • Urban tree planting initiatives to lower home energy bills in low-income communities
  • Edible food rescue programs that address the state’s food insecurity crisis
  • Wildfire prevention and mitigation through education and direct action

Fellows get exceptional real-world project management and community engagement experience serving alongside organizations and regional leaders, including:

  • Outcome-driven project implementation experience 
  • Mentorship and project level support
  • Training on project-related tools and techniques
  • Statewide networking with local, regional, and state leaders
