Forest Aftercare Assistant
The Waldorf School of Baltimore has a long and proud history of providing nature based programs throughout the school. Our signature Forest Aftercare program provides children with a safe space to cultivate a deep bond with the natural world. Children enrolled in the Forest Aftercare program spend most of their time in the forest surrounding our school. Free play, gardening, animal husbandry, and guided exploration of the forest are key aspects of the program. We spend time outside everyday – rain, snow, or shine.

We are searching for Forest Aftercare Assistant to help us expand and meet our mission to inspire and educate children to think, feel, and act with depth imagination and purpose.

In this position you will join us in facilitating the growth of our students and community as ecoliterate citizens experiencing a deep connection to the natural world. You bring warmth, care, and joy into the daily rhythms of the Forest Aftercare Program. In this unique part-time position you will work in the forest everyday alongside the Forest Aftercare staff. To be successful, you must have a deep love for connecting children with nature, enjoy being outside in all weather conditions, and have experience supervising and caring for children in mixed age groups of 3-14 years. As a central support to the Forest Aftercare program, you will prepare and serve healthy snacks for Forest Aftercare participants and maintain the spaces used by our program; be interested in learning about the Waldorf approach to education in action, enjoy team work, and value close communication with colleagues. Your schedule will be 2:45-5:45pm, five days a week when school is in session; additional hours will be required for full or half day care when the school is closed for classes. These days are set in advance. This hourly position pays $12-$15 an hour depending on education and experience.
