Supervisory Fish and Wildlife Biologist Position - US Department of the Interior

As a Supervisory Fish and Wildlife Biologist your duties will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Serves as a supervisor, exercising the full range of supervisory and managerial duties for the staff.
  • Develops strategies and procedures for managing a team with multiple program areas (Endangered Species, Federal Activities) within the Office's geographic area of responsibility, in cooperation with other supervisors. The employee supervises a staff that conducts work in multiple Program areas, coordinates and provides technical support to other work teams within the office, other supervisors and the Field Supervisor, and participates in budget tracking and expenditures for the office.
  • The Endangered Species Program components include: conducting and reviewing Section 7 consultations, preparing Habitat Conservation Plans and Candidate Conservation Agreements under Section 10, reviewing species' status, preparing listing actions, developing and implementing recovery plans, and providing scientific review and recommendations on actions involving listed species and critical habitat to individuals both within and outside the Service.
  • The Federal Activities Program component includes: protecting and enhancing fish and wildlife resources and their habitat in the office's area of responsibility by working primarily with other federal agencies during their planning of water development projects with emphasis on high value landscapes such as wetland and riverine habitats that provide adequate river flows for riparian and aquatic organisms.
  • Provides administrative and technical guidance to subordinate staff and gives advice and support to other Service units in the region in carrying out the Service's responsibilities under several Acts: Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act, Endangered Species Act, Clean Water Act, Migratory Bird Treaty Act, National Environmental Policy Act, Natural Resource Damage Assessment and Restoration Program, Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act, and the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act. Develops and presents, or assists in developing and presenting, related training and workshops.
  • Provides administrative and technical guidance to subordinate staff and gives advice and support to other Service units in the region in carrying out the Service's responsibilities under several Acts: Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act, Endangered Species Act, Clean Water Act, Migratory Bird Treaty Act, National Environmental Policy Act, Natural Resource Damage Assessment and Restoration Program.
